Pluma
Seven Dorado in the Hunt
Week 13 brought a great group of anglers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Argentina to Pluma, along with good river levels, warm temperatures, and consistent fishing conditions.
Taylor Goodhue, a friend from Fly Water Travel, joined us as host of the Classic Jungle program, while a second group came for the Heli Fishing program.
The defining scene came when seven dorado of similar size were seen hunting together. Esteban managed to place his fly among them and connect with one of the fish.
Pacú were active as well, giving the group opportunities with both dry flies and streamers, and adding another dimension to a week marked by strong, stable conditions.
13 Patrick, Alexander, Ryan, Roland, Taylor, Peter & Jonathan (United States); Nikita, Feodor & Jeremy (United Kingdom); Craig (Canada); James (New Zealand); Esteban (Argentina).
The week began with some cloud cover before developing into sunny, hot conditions. Temperatures remained warm throughout the trip.
The river held good levels and good water temperatures during the week, providing a stable and consistent setting for fishing.
Catch of the Week
One Cast Into Seven Hunting Dorado
Some opportunities arrive one fish at a time.
This one didn’t.
While moving downriver, the group spotted seven dorado of similar size hunting together.
Esteban had a narrow window and one clear objective: place the fly among the fish without wasting the opportunity.
He did.
One of the dorado took, turning an already spectacular visual encounter into the defining catch of the week.
Memorable Moments
Pacú on Dry Flies and Streamers
Pacú remained highly active throughout Week 13, giving anglers repeated opportunities to target them with very different presentations.
Some came on dry flies, others on streamers.
That variety added another layer to a week already marked by good water, warm temperatures, and active dorado.
The Week at Pluma
Stable levels, warm water, and consistent conditions gave Pluma a strong Week 13.
Dorado provided one of the week’s most visual moments, while active pacú created opportunities across both surface and subsurface presentations.
Rain was expected for the following week, but Week 13 closed with the river still holding good temperatures and productive fishing conditions.
